About the Brand

Article & Goods was founded in the Summer of 2015 in San Francisco, California. The company is independently owned and operated by the Creative/Founder, Sam. His knowledge in the fashion industry has allowed him to see a untapped space within the luxury goods market, of over $250 billion in sales. He noticed designer labels were charging 8x to 10x the markup to the final end consumer. After noticing this huge gap in margins, he saw that this can simply be changed with a "modern way" of doing business. The supply chain is shortened by removing any middlemen and gouging high markups of designer labels pass off the savings and offering direct prices.

Designer & Founder

Sam Chen is the founder and designer behind Article & Goods. His career began in the fashion industry at a very young age. Sam was surrounded by his family of creative individuals. When he was a young child, his grandmother taught him how to sew and repair hems on garments. He recalled the days when he visited his mother at an apparel garment factory, where his mother was a seamstress. In his teen years, Sam was determined to get into the fashion industry and some day start his own business. He worked his way up into retail and then management. After graduation from the Art Institute of California - San Francisco, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management, he took a leap of faith and ventured out into the jewelry industry by working for a small startup jewelry business and learning the trade. After a year of joyful learning and experience, he took his knowledge into his first new business in jewelry, Thesis of Alexandria (TOA). Through the years of designing, product development, wholesale and retail skills under his belt, he decided to launch his second passion in leather goods called Article & Goods.
